The origins of Penny’s Catnip Club
Penny’s Catnip Club stems from a combination of love and boredom. Penny was adopted from the Broward Humane Society in 2015, and since then she has been yelling at and bossing around her owner, Kasey.
In search of a new hobby, Kasey gave sewing a try, and the first thing she made was a very wonky, but effective catnip mat. A few months later, in 2021, we began setting up at farmer’s markets and craft shows.
In 2025, Kasey and Penny packed up their life in South Florida and moved to the Gulf Coast, selling handmade catnip toys, crochet cat hats and beds all up and down the coast. Finally setting at the Bazaar on Apricot and Lime in Sarasota, Florida, you can find Penny’s owner Thursday through Saturday from 10 a-3p where you can find our original products as well as a large array of cat themed gifts for people that love their cats just as much as we do!.
Our goal is to open our own store to offer the same great products (and more!) as well as host community events and house adoptable cats, becoming a cat lover’s paradise! Stay tuned!

At Penny’s Catnip Club, our mission is to celebrate our feline companions and their devoted owners. While pet stores and society in general caters to dogs, we know how impactful owning a cat can be and how much they brighten our world. We aim to celebrate the bonds and connections we have with our cats and other cat people, who just get it!
We value quality and sustainability over everything else. Our organic catnip is sourced from trusted growers in the US and purchased in small quantities to ensure freshness and potency, making sure everything our cats come in contact with is high-quality and, most importantly, safe!
Anything that we don’t hand make ourselves is sourced from other small businesses with an emphasis on women-owned products. We’ve got to stick together! We try to find unique items that not only bring joy, but can’t be found anywhere else.
